Kempton, Randall
Dr. Randall Kempton (M.M. Brigham Young University, D.M.A. Arizona State University) came to Brigham Young University-Idaho in 1999 and currently serves as Director of Choral Activities and conductor of the Collegiate Singers and Men’s Choir. He studied conducting and arranging with Mack Wilberg, Ronald Staheli, and David Stocker. Randall is a regular guest conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and his arrangements have been featured on “Music and the Spoken Word,” General Conference sessions, and CES fireside broadcasts.
In addition to working with the BYU-Idaho choir, he teaches private voice, diction, conducting, arranging, and choral methods courses. Prior to coming to Rexburg, he conducted ensembles at Arizona State University, BYU (Provo), Utah Valley University, and the Meridian School in Provo, Utah. His other musical experience includes work as a pianist, vocal coach, and vocalist in classical, jazz, barbershop, and musical theater settings. Randall and his wife Jen are the happy but often frazzled parents of nine children.
