Sargent, David H.
Dr. David H. Sargent, composer, earned his Bachelor’s and Master of Arts degrees in Music Theory and Composition at Brigham Young University. Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Music Composition were from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
He taught at the Eastman School of Music, Ohio University, and 32 years at Brigham Young University. He held the Harold R. Laycock University Professorship for Music Composition for ten years before retiring in 2008. He has written music for many combinations of instruments: solo, choral, full orchestra and wind ensemble. His works have been performed nationally and internationally—throughout theUnited States and in Germany, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Wales, England, Netherlands, Bolivia and Canada.
